March 2020 KC2600 Meeting Notes

For this week's meeting, our main topic was physical security with the DIY Lock Picks project.

After a bit of discussion we made our way over to Strang Park, behind the Johnson County Library to get to work. The park didn't have any power outlets, but, with a couple of work/head lamps and some hand files, we were able to make a little progress.

While possible to make the lock picks by hand filing, our power tools would have made the job much faster. A few pics below:

February 2020 meeting

Hey, howdy, hi!

As discussed in January's meeting, we're looking for project ideas that are small enough to be portable and able to be completed in public spaces. So, bring your idea(s) so that we may discuss and vote on which one(s) we'll focus on this quarter. Also, remember that they should be able to be completed within the quarter.

Oh! A couple of other things we touched on were meeting times, and possible change in meeting venue. Starting in February, the meeting will begin at 6 P.M. to give people a little extra time to get there.

As for relocating, I'm not sure if that's still on the table (correct me if I'm wrong, Joel) but if anyone has an opinion on that, please let us know.

Looking forward to seeing all the project ideas.

Until next week, cheers!

Plan for 2020

Had a very good and productive meeting key things we decided on:

  • would like a hands on project to focus on
  • Projects should be quarterly
  • Projects need to be in person and hands on
  • Projects need to be portable and small enough to accomplish in a public place or on your own (unless we secure a working space)
  • Spitfirecleo volunteered to be webmaster
  • A channel was added for us on seckc slack #2600
February tasks:
  • Brain storm needs & projects
  • Vote on top 3 projects
  • Identify project leader
  • Schedule tasks for each meeting

January 2020 meeting

For the January meeting i wanted to discuss a new meeting format and see if we should relocate, change the time.  Also wanted to see if people were interested in meeting at 5 then have drinks at 6-7?  Let me know and i hope to see you all soon!
