April 2026 KC2600 meeting

 The April KC2600 will be held at the Oak Park Mall Barnes And Nobel Coffee Shop in Oveland park at 6pm this Friday April 3rd, 2026.

•  Professional Culture and Sub-culture Triggers: Fightin' words!  Every culture has its hero's and villains.  "land-minds" professional code switching when moving between different cultures.

 The greater Kansas City 2600 has traditionally meets in Overland park Kansas and to date only one or two people have suggested to meet elsewhere, so it's only right to open this dialog and ask where people want to meet?  Please email asmodianx@kc2600.com with your preferences. 

KC 2600 March 6th 2026 - Hacker culture - The real name war

A parting question I posed to the last KC2600 meeting is "Hacker culture traditionally uses aliases and handles.  Is this still of value? Are we more or less safe by doing this?"  Since we have a lot of people who are just entering the Information Security industry its important to think on this. Identity, Aliases, handles and some times even nom de guerre are key aspects of daily life but its important to know why they are used and what the practical effects of using an alias.  

 Things to think about:

• OSINT techniques
• Social media
• KYC
• Child protection laws
