A parting question I posed to the last KC2600 meeting is "Hacker culture traditionally uses aliases and handles. Is this still of value? Are we more or less safe by doing this?" Since we have a lot of people who are just entering the Information Security industry its important to think on this. Identity, Aliases, handles and some times even nom de guerre are key aspects of daily life but its important to know why they are used and what the practical effects of using an alias.
Things to think about:
- OSINT techniques
- Social media
- KYC
- Child protection laws
Location: Oak Park Mall Barnes and Noble Coffee Shop, Overland Park, KS 3/6/2026 @ 6pm
As a reminder - 2600 doesn't have a set format and is an open discussion so this is just food for thought, we will talk about whatever ;)
